While Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark might be gone, a fresh, young animated Iron Man is just about to be born.
Set for a summer 2025 premiere on Disney Jr. and Disney+, Disney Jr. has greenlighted “Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends,” the first Iron Man preschool series.
The show, which is now in development, will depict young Tony Stark and his “world-saving best friends,” Riri Williams (Ironheart) and Amadeus Cho (Iron Hulk). Working together, the three cartoon heroes will guard their city and one another.
According to the logline, “they have their own Iron Suits that allow them to fly and give them each improved super-strength, therefore helping them in their Super Hero endeavors. Iron Man also has a Nano-Shield; Ironheart has a Heartbeat Bubble forcefield to guard people; Iron Hulk has his powerful Iron Boom clap and Iron Hulk Stomp.
Under the direction of their superpowered Android, Vision, and their fuzzy pooch, Gamma, who has her own Iron pooch outfit and travels with the Iron Friends on many of their exploits, the trio “work out of their beachfront base, Iron Quarters (IQ).”
Mason Blomberg (“Shameless), Kapri Ladd (“Danger Force), and Aidyn Ahn (“Kids Say the Darndest Things”) will voice Tony Stark (Iron Man), Riri Williams (Ironheart), and Amadeus Cho (Iron Hulk respectively). Fred Tatasciore (“Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur”) is Gamma; David Kaye (“Transformers”) will voice Vision.
The protagonist in “Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends” should not be mistaken with the young Tony Stark/Iron Man in Marvel’s “Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which is voiced by John Stamos.”
The show represents the latest action in line with Disney and Marvel’s larger plan to expose the Avengers characters to a younger generation of viewers.
Marvel Comics first published Iron Man in 1963. Over ten films, Downey Jr. portrayed the hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, finishing with Tony Stark’s dramatic death in “Avengers: Endgame,” 2019.
Executive produced by Sean Coyle (“Puppy Dog Pals”) and Harrison Wilcox (“Marvel’s Spidey and His Awesome Friends”), “Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends” comes from Disney Branded Television.
James Eason-Garcia (“Pupstruction) is co-executive producer and story editor; Alex Cichon (“Lego Marvel: Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom”) is supervising producer; Ashley Rideout (“Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends”) is producer; Michael Downing (“Hello Ninja”) is supervising director. Disney Jr. and Marvel Studios in concert with Atomic Cartoons produce the show.
